A Short History
A long time ago, in a period called Golden Era, there was an unnamed model who was dressed in a very beautiful gown made by a fashion designer known as Jacques Fath. She appeared in the magazine cover of Le Corset De France. Well, we’re not really sure if he was the first creator, but our research shows that this is the earliest record of this beautiful dress.
Soon after, Hollywood celebs and those of other countries donned that dress. Jayne Mansfield, Eva Malloy, Pat Lewis, Marilyn Monroe were among those who favored the body-hugging gown called mermaid style dress.
The mermaid dress is close fitting through the bodice, down through the hips and to about mid or lower calf where the skirt flares out. As sexy as this is, it's not an easy dress to wear unless you have an athletic or slim build because this dress actually adds curves.

Mermaid dresses will fit you snugly so make sure that the undergarments you’ll be wearing will be the same ones that you’ll use on your wedding day. Otherwise, your dress might not fit you well. It’s also important to wear the right underwear. It’s because such slinky, clingy gowns can show unsightly panty lines.
